Happy Holidays from HEROS!

It has been a remarkable year for us at HEROS and we are so grateful for our wonderful volunteers, generous supporters and hard-working participants.

This year was full of firsts for our program and we achieved great things:

  • We launched Super HEROS in Calgary, giving kids with developmental challenges the chance to play hockey. A huge thank you to supporters from the local community who helped get this program off the ground. We are proud to welcome all of our Super HEROS into the HEROS community.
  • This year saw our inaugural gala fundraiser in Vancouver coupled with our second annual Hockey In The Harbour tour and ball hockey tournament. We were able to raise $85,000 with the help of our generous supporters.
  • This holiday season we will serve over 2700 meals to HEROS, their families and volunteers. This includes just under 500 pizzas/lasagnas and more than 225 Christmas dinners with of course desert to follow. Thanks to all of our generous supporters we’re able to feed our hungry, hungry HEROS!
  • It is an unfortunate reality that not every child is able to open a gift on Christmas morning. This year, over 725 boys and girls nationally will receive custom made HEROS hoodies as Christmas gifts.

As we enter our 19th season I’m reminded of how grateful I am to have such a caring community of companies, organizations and individuals who really care. Thank you for your continued support for the girls and boys in HEROS and making dreams a reality.

– Norm Flynn, President HEROS Hockey

The holiday season is always a natural time for reflection and this year is no different. The addition of the Super HEROS program has reinforced the significant impact sport can make in the lives of youth that are, for a variety of reasons, searching for a community to call their own. With an incredible group of selfless volunteers all across Canada, we are able to provide something very special for so many youth that take so much from the experience.

– Executive Director, Kevin Hodgson

The holidays are a time to reflect and be thankful. This holiday season help us give the gift of hockey – donate now to help HEROS lend a helping hand to those in need.

From our HEROS family to yours we wish you a very happy holidays and prosperous New Year!
