On Saturday February 14th, HEROS across nation will be celebrating Hockey Day in Canada in their own way, but none will participate in the authentic Canadian hockey experience as the program participants in Ottawa who will be playing an outdoor game in our nation’s capital. HEROS Ottawa will be taking on another local organization’s program in the 3rd annual outdoor game at Jules Morin Park. The game between HEROS and Christie Lake Kids recognizes the many successes of both groups on ice and is a celebration of their love of the sport. “For Canadians, playing hockey is a rite of passage but for many kids, due to costs associated with equipment and expensive ice time, it is an unachievable goal. We are very happy that we can provide kids with an opportunity to celebrate Hockey Day in Canada by playing a game against the Boys and Girls Club of OttawaHEROS. Our kids will have life-long memories of this event.” says Darcy Delaney, Executive Director of Christie Lake Kids. “Since our expansion into Ottawa, we have seen tremendous community support,” said Norm Flynn, Founder and Executive Director of HEROS. “With our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, we are helping more and more kids in the Vanier area, but also have made connections with other like-minded organizations like Christie Lake Kids to help the greater community. Our Hockey Day in Canada Game is a celebration of it all.” Puck drops at 12:30!
