Smooth and efficient crossovers allow a player to change direction while maintaining speed. Here are the keys:

  1. Keep your blades flat on the ice as long as possible.
  2. Keep your upper body above your hips rather than leaning over to the side.
  3. Push the ice away from you like spreading out pizza dough rather than chopping the edges off it.
  4. Accelerate in your turns.
