Making an impact in their community is easy for Tim Preston and his team. After all, it’s right there in the name.
Based in the Fraser Valley, Impact Hockey Development is a leading on and off ice hockey training program that provides a fun and challenging atmosphere for players of all ages to advance their game to the next level. They’re also an incredible partner to HEROS, helping provide young people in their community the opportunity to play, learn and grow through the game of hockey.
Founded by former WHL player and NHL draft pick Tim Preston, Impact Hockey Development has grown to become a staple in BC’s hockey community, offering year-round programming delivered by a team of experienced and dedicated coaches. Their athletes include competitive minor, junior and pro hockey players, including HEROS ambassador Brenden Dillon, who has been a large part of the Winnipeg Jets’ early success this season.
In 2019, Brenden, Tim and the team at Impact hosted the first ever BD4 camp, providing elite coaching for participants looking to improve their game, while supporting vulnerable young people in their community by directing all the proceeds from the camp directly to HEROS’ Surrey chapter.
While the camp was designed for players aged 8-10 to take their game to the next level, it also incorporated an off-ice element not unlike what you would see at a weekly HEROS practice. BD4 participants were given the opportunity to open up about off-ice challenges, while learning the importance of work ethic, discipline and having fun both in hockey and their day-to-day lives.
In the years since that first camp, Impact Hockey Development has continued to support HEROS, increasing their fundraising efforts and being a champion for HEROS programs in their community.
“We want our community to know that Impact is right here with them, investing in the local community. HEROS is the perfect place for us to do that. Hockey has given us a lot, and now we want to give back where we can,” said Tim.
Tim and the team at Impact Hockey Development are true heroes for our HEROS, and we can’t thank them enough for the incredible work they do!
