When HEROS established its first chapter in the downtown eastside of Vancouver in 2000 none of the founders or board members were sure where the program would go and how it would develop. As we look toward our 20th season, we see our 28 chapters spanning from Montreal to Victoria, and have had the privilege to positively impact over 10,000 boys and girls, and we marvel at how far we have come.
As we reflect on the past 20 years we are tremendously grateful for the partners and volunteers we have had the privilege to work with. HEROS passion and determination is as strong today as it was the day we started. To those who have been with us since the beginning and those who we are just getting to know, you are truly HEROS family and we thank each and every one of you for joining us on this journey.
Without the tireless efforts of the hundreds of volunteers we have nationwide our program would not be where it is today. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
The need for programs like ours for youth in Canada is just as important now as when we established it 20 years ago. We continue to work to reach as many boys and girls as we can – it has been an exciting journey for HEROS so far and the future looks bright.
