We would like to congratulate our long time HEROS Ambassador Jay Bouwmeester and the St. Louis Blues for their Stanley Cup victory in June. We’ve got some exciting news for Jay’s hometown, we would like to announce the launching of our third Super HEROS program in Edmonton, Alberta!
“Jay Bouwmeester was the very first NHL ambassador to get involved with HEROS back in 2009. He has been a great friend, supporter and role model to our program. We promised him one day that should the time come that he wins a Stanley Cup, we would help him celebrate by opening a new program in the city that means so much to him. We were so excited to see him lift the Cup and are excited to honour that pledge and launch Super HEROS in Edmonton.” – Norm Flynn HEROS Founder
Edmonton will be our third Super HEROS chapter, building off the success of our Calgary Super HEROS program in 2018/19. Our new Super HEROS will join more than 800 other HEROS players across Canada wearing the same HEROS jersey, knowing that they are part of a team that stretches across Canada.
Super HEROS is an adapted hockey program specifically designed for young people ages 7-17 living with cognitive and/or physical challenges that otherwise wouldn’t have a place to play the game. As part of the Canadian Adapted Hockey Alliance, we are committed to create opportunities for children & youth living with developmental, cognitive & physical disabilities to develop their strength, hockey skills, sportsmanship and life skills while deepening their love of the game and their team.
Chapter Information:
- This program will be available to 24 boys & girls ages 7-17 with cognitive & physical challenges
- The season will run Saturday mornings, September 28 to March 14
- All equipment will be provided free of charge
- There are no fees to take part
We would like to express our deepest thanks to chapter partners Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Hockey Edmonton, Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, and Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton for their help in launching this program in Edmonton.
