Continuing our 20th anniversary season celebration, our final program announcement for the coming season is that Victoria, B.C. will be our newest HEROS program this fall. Victoria will be home to our 23rd program and our 11th city across Canada.
Working in partnership with the City of Sannich and local schools, deserving young people from Saanich and Esquimalt will be the inaugural group for the incoming chapter. This free program, running from October to April, will allow the boys and girls of Saanich and Esquimalt the opportunity to play hockey, build relationships and come together as HEROS.
The accomplishment of founding a chapter on Canada’s most westerly coast is not lost on HEROS Founder Norm Flynn,“the addition of the HEROS program in Victoria is exciting as it is so close to where HEROS launched in Vancouver 20 years ago and acts as an inspiration as we look to our next milestone of establishing HEROS from coast to coast.” Norm is amazed at how far HEROS has come since its inception, “when we got started way back in 2000, I never would have thought we would have so many great young people and volunteers representing us across Canada. We are energized to see if we can take HEROS across the country all the way to the East Coast!”
